The 3-Day Guarantee is an Australian Government initiative for families eligible for Child Care Subsidy (CCS), giving your child up to three fully subsidised days of childcare per week – even if you’re not working or if you’re seeking work.

What’s changed?

Previously, families could only access 2–3 days per fortnight if they weren’t working or engaged in approved activity, based on the former activity test. Now, your child can attend up to 3 days per week (6 days per fortnight) at the subsidised rate, based on your family’s CCS entitlements – with no work/activity requirements.

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is an Australian Government program that provides financial assistance to help families with the cost of approved childcare services, making quality early learning more accessible and affordable.

The subsidy is paid directly to the childcare provider and is calculated based on family income, the age and number of children in care, and the hours parents spend in work, study, or other approved activities. Families make a co-contribution by paying the difference between the childcare fees and the subsidised amount.
